Thank you for purchasing the IMG CD-ROM. Please take a minute or two to read the following important information.
• Installation and Requirements
The IMG CD-ROM “program” can run directly from the CD-ROM, but for optimal performance, drag the IMG CD-ROM icon from the CD-ROM onto your hard disk. To avoid system crashes, you should run the IMG CD-ROM without any extensions except your CD-ROM driver, QuickTime, Sound Manager 3.0, and other essential software.
The IMG CD-ROM program is initially allocated with 3.5 megabytes of memory. If the program should run out of memory, you can allocate more memory by copying the IMG CD-ROM program to the finder, selecting the program icon in the Finder and using the File menu item, Get Info, to increase the memory size to the maximum available on your system.
The IMG CD-ROM uses Apple QuickTime and Sound Manager 3.0, which is contained in the “Put in System Folder” folder. To install QuickTime and Sound Manager, open the “Put in System Folder” and drag the contents onto your System Folder on your hard drive. Restart your machine for changes to take effect.
The IMG CD-ROM requires a Macintosh II or greater with 13” 256 color monitor, CD-ROM, 3.5 megabytes of free memory and System 7. Note: with some older CD-ROM players, you may experience sound drop outs and slow QuickTime movie play. We strongly recommend you run the IMG CD-ROM on a CD-ROM drive with a 300Kb/sec transfer rate or better.
• Better Looking QuickTime Movies
If you have 16 or 24-bit color, the QuickTime movies will look considerably better if you set your monitor to 16 or 24-bit color. However, if you choose to do this, we recommend having a Quadra or better Macintosh, and a CD-ROM drive with a 300Kb/sec transfer rate or better, and you allocate more memory (about 5 MB) to the IMG CD-ROM program.
• Important Notes
The MYST demo cannot be run off the IMG CD-ROM. You must copy the ENTIRE MYST demo folder to your hard drive. Sorry, we didn’t have enough space for the “Making of MYST” movies, please don't try to run them.
To run the Spectre Demo you’ll need to type in the following serial number: FPP8MQV9
A note for AV Mac owners. Some of the shareware games and demos will not play sounds or music on your machines. Heck, some of them might not even run.
